Gloomhaven: The Lion's Paws is a standalone game set before the events of Gloomhaven. The game includes four new characters - Valrath Red Guard (Tank, Crowd Control), Inox Hatchet (Ranged), Human Voidwarden (Support, Mind Control) and Quatryl Demolitionist (Melee, Obstacle Manipulation) - which can also be used in the original Gloomhaven game.
The game also includes 16 monster types (including seven new standard monsters and three new bosses) and a new 25-scenario campaign that asks the heroes to investigate a case of mysterious disappearances in the city. Is it the work of the Vermlings or is something far more sinister going on?
Gloomhaven: The Lion's Paws is aimed at a more casual audience to ease you into the gameplay. All of the hard-to-organize cardboard maps have been removed and instead players play on the scenario book itself, which features new, unique artwork for each scenario. The final barrier to entry - learning the game - has also been lowered with a simplified rulebook and a five-scenario tutorial to help new players get started.
