The Cosmic Citizenship Council has announced it will allow two new alien species to join its ranks — but they forgot to make two copies of the filing form! Only one species can join, and now the candidates must battle for control of the planets to prove who deserves to become a Certified Civilization.
Cosmic Encounter Duel is a competitive, standalone two-player game set in the Cosmic Encounter universe, where you and your closest frenemy race to be the first to control five planets.
Each of the 27 alien species has a unique ability that creatively alters the game mechanics. For example, the Cheater can secretly reserve an extra tactic card to use — unless their opponent calls them out on it! The unique combinations of alien powers make each duel unpredictable and highly interactive.
In addition to your alien species and its special power, you'll command twenty spaceships. You’ll use them to fight duels, support with reinforcements, retreat strategically, or maintain planetary control. Sharing planets with your opponent is possible, but risky — especially with the threat of losing ships to the Warp or the void of space!
Gameplay revolves around drawing and resolving Destiny cards, which come in three types:
- Discovery cards: Trigger planetary duels between players.
- Event cards: Present challenges and cosmic calamities to overcome.
- Refresh cards: Offer recovery time to regroup and prepare.
During a duel, players secretly choose how many ships to send to a planet and then select a card and tactic to use in battle. Strategic planning, bluffing, and adapting to your alien’s strengths are essential to gain control. After each Destiny card is resolved, the icon on the card determines the next card type, propelling the duel forward.
