Before the first ocean is formed and the atmosphere begins to thicken the most important planning takes place. Terraforming Mars Prelude starts exactly at this decisive moment and gives you control over the early direction of your corporation. The mega corporations are preparing their strategies and everything is still open. This prelude is where you define how your company enters the greatest project in human history.
At the start of the game you choose from several Prelude cards that grant your corporation a focused early advantage or directly accelerate the terraforming process. These early decisions shape the entire course of the game and ensure that every session gains momentum much faster. Strategies become visible earlier corporations gain a clear identity and the experience becomes noticeably more dynamic. At the same time Prelude significantly reduces overall playtime without sacrificing strategic depth.
The expansion is complemented by new corporations and project cards that fit perfectly into the early phase of terraforming. Prelude integrates seamlessly into the base game and can be combined with all other expansions. For experienced players as well as newcomers the opening becomes more focused more direct and more engaging.
