City of the Living is a modern reimagining of the classic strategy game Prosperity placing you in a future where zombies dominate the surface and humanity must rebuild smarter than ever before. Between ruins hope and constant threat a new competition begins to determine who leads the greatest city of the living. Progress is essential but every mistake carries consequences.
You guide a nation through seven decades of reconstruction. Energy industry research and capital drive your growth while pollution looms over every decision. Expand without care and you will pay later. Play too cautiously and you will fall behind. City of the Living challenges you to balance short term gains with long term sustainability.
At the heart of the game are tiles that trigger global effects as soon as they are revealed. Energy can generate wealth or damage the environment. Ecology cleanses or worsens pollution. Capital research and prosperity intertwine and affect all players simultaneously. After resolving these effects you choose actions to gain money advance research reduce pollution or build new infrastructure.
Your personal board is limited and demands careful planning. Colour coded building spaces transport networks and research tracks force meaningful priorities. Existing structures can be replaced but their benefits are lost. Even transport solutions introduce new drawbacks. Growth feels powerful yet always fragile.
