The walls tremble and the city holds its breath. Carcassonne Besiegers and Defenders brings Carcassonne into a moment of open conflict. Catapults threaten the city and peaceful development gives way to tense decisions about protection influence and resilience. It is no longer only about where you build but also about who is willing to defend the city.
As the seventh major expansion for the third edition this module introduces a clear sense of danger. The city comes under siege and players must place their followers as defenders to keep destruction at bay. Your meeples take on a new role guarding the walls and every placement near a city gains fresh importance. Choosing to defend ties up resources but can secure critical points at the right moment.
The new mechanics integrate cleanly into the familiar flow of the game. Cities remain valuable but protecting them becomes a strategic challenge of its own. Interaction grows through deliberate positioning and timing rather than randomness. This expansion is ideal for groups who know Carcassonne well and want to add a sharper tactical edge without sacrificing elegance.
