Description
In Canvas, you take on the role of painters competing in a prestigious art competition. Your goal is to collect and combine art cards to create unique paintings and score the most points.
Throughout the game, you gather art cards that each feature a piece of artwork along with scoring icons. Three of these cards are layered together to form a complete painting. The order in which the cards are stacked determines which icons remain visible and which are hidden, turning each painting into a clever puzzle of planning, timing, and creativity.
On your turn, you may either take an art card or create a painting. Art cards are displayed in a row in the center of the table. The further to the right a card is positioned, the higher its cost. To take a card, you must place Inspiration tokens on every card to its left. If you do not have enough tokens, you cannot choose that card. Any tokens already on the selected card are collected and can be used on future turns. The leftmost card is always free to take.
Once you have at least three art cards, you may create a painting. Choose three cards from your hand, arrange them in any order, and score the visible icons by comparing them to the current scoring cards. These scoring conditions change each game, ensuring strong replay value.
When all players have created and scored three paintings, the game ends. The player with the highest total score wins the art competition.
